Reading Notes Part B: Faerie Queen

I had a difficult time choosing a story this week for a different reason than normal. There were too many stories that I remember as a child that I wanted to use. I missed Part A and will be writing about it in the extra credit reading for this week. I wrote about Beowulf a small amount for my project last semester before I had to withdraw, so I wanted to take a different route this semester. I chose the Faerie Queen: Britomart unit because it has so many different angles that I could use for my Lebowski-esque stories. I like the idea of Dude having a magic aspect to his personality and attributes. He is a very optimistic character in the movie and I want to bring that over in the story I write this week. I could do so many things with a magic mirror especially if I used events from the movie. I am excited.

I read Faerie Queen- Britomart Unit. Stories from the Faerie Queene by Mary Macleod. You can read the story here.

  1. Hi Tabi! When you copy and paste from another program, remember to highlight the text, and then use the Tx button (it's in the editing bar, near the far right end, next to the spellcheck button) to remove the extra formatting that is coming in with that. That way your post won't go scrolling off the screen with each paragraph being a single line. :-)

Week 11 EC: Back up and Review

Part One: Done Part Two: I checked my progress in the class. I am not too happy about it, but I will get more extra credit done in order to make up for it. :) Part Three: I am included in the project stack. Sweet! I follow dharma. Fighting for the meek is in my blood. I do not hate people. Forgiveness is important. Video: I had to watch Conjunction Junction for my video pick. I grew up with it. I am not sure if this college generation still watched it or not. I would always have to watch Schoolhouse Rock videos when it rained outside or if we had a substitute teacher in elementary school. It is sad, but I still do not know all of the words to the Conjunction Junction song. "Out of the frying pan and into the fire." I will have to watch more Schoolhouse Rock videos. I was blessed. Growth Mindset, "Not Yet"

Growth Mindset The Growth Mindset.   I have never heard of the growth mindset or Carol Dweck until now. I can understand why people support her ideas and learning tools. These videos bring a whole new world to kids and some adults who have seen learning or work one way their whole life. She thinks outside of the box and beyond. I would love to take what I have learned from these videos and apply it to the subjects that I am struggling with. If we all keep working at a certain task or subject, I believe that we can all have the "not yet" perspective on life. I was diagnosed with ADD about a year and a half ago. Before transferring to OU, classes were not that difficult for me at previous colleges. When I came to OU, I realized that I do not understand more difficult concepts as fast as everyone else. My short term memory is also lacking and memorization can be tough. But when I look at subjects with a more positive view than the alternative, I tend to ...
