The Difference Between Praise and Feedback

This article talks about words that parents should or should not say to their children do to psychological reasons. When parents praise their young children, it makes them willing to take on new challenges in life. The article says to teach the child how to take positive and negative feedback in life to grow as a person. Ask questions about things the child is interested in. Encouraging feedback is a positive way to let your child know you appreciate them.


Be a mirror

Growth mindset is a large part in the development in children. A fixed mindset is counterproductive in a student’s mind. It causes a strain on the ability to work hard to achieve a goal.

    I actually read this article, and I thought it would be really beneficial for soon-to-be mothers and fathers. It stresses the importance of words and how you speak to your children. If parents are consistently critical and judgmental of their children, it is really difficult for the children to gain confidence. Words matter!

Week 8 Comments and Feedback

I think that the feedback could be more constructive. I find that the comments that let me know if there is confusion or anything in the story help me the most. I believe that I am helping when it comes to grammar, but the content aspect could use improvement. I realize just how immense the possibilities can be when it comes to writing our weekly stories. I do not feel like I am getting to know people because I usually do not connect with people over the internet. I have to see and talk to people physically in order to feel like I have any sense of who they are. I am happy with my introduction post. I believe that I could look up more feedback strategies in order to benefit others and myself. I chose this particular graphic because it clearly states the adjectives that should describe your feedback style. It is concise and I like the colors.
